In these photos, Beatriz Albuquerque explores the poems of Langston Hughes, who stayed on at Columbia University for only one year because of his experiences of racial discrimination. Hughes also worked as a cook and a busboy. His NY poems are the departure for these photos by Beatriz Albuquerque, where she deconstruct and rethink Hughes's poems both visually and physically.
